We are deeply saddened when a massive fire hit Sitio Paradise Brgy. Looc, Mandaue last November 23, 2022, leaving 601 families and 2,291 individuals homeless. And so, with all our good intentions, the business community voluntarily stepped in to bridge the need.
As promised, despite the difficulties and challenges we had along the way, we were eventually able to conquer them. It is truly amazing to see how we can come together as a community and work for the common good when needed.
With the collective efforts and generous contributions of everyone behind, we have finally marked the partial turnover of these temporary housing units to the local government of Mandaue. We thank the LGU of Mandaue City headed by Mayor Jonas Cortes, for giving us the privilege to be of service to the community.
On behalf of the MCCI members and the Board of Trustees, we would like to thank our generous donors: Mr. Edmun Liu and the LH Foundation, Chong Hua, Mandaue Fil-Chi Chamber, Worldwide Steel, Vic Enterprises, and the other MCCI member companies who generously shared their resources for this project.
Thank you to our Pasilong Committee Chair, Beverly Dayanan for her passion in pursuing this project despite the challenges. Thank you also to Mr. Carlo Suarez and his team for taking on this project despite the very tight schedule and budget.
We salute and thank the department heads of the city government, specifically CPDO, HUDO, Engineering and DGS, MIPTAC, and the PNP for all their contributions in making this event successful.
May this project be another testament to our enduring and productive partnership to make Mandaue truly a city we can be proud of.
