Donation Drive for Odette and Fire Victims
In response to the terrifying aftermath of Typhoon Odette in Cebu, MCCI organized donation drives and collaborated with other civic organizations to assist victims in Mandaue and in South Cebu where most heavily stricken areas are located. Mr. Injap Sia of Double Dragon Properties donated 200 packs of relief goods, which were turned over by MCCI to the Mandaue City government last December 28, 2021 and was immediately distributed to the typhoon and fire victims in Brgy. Mantuyong, Mandaue.
MCCI also initiated and distributed 250 relief packages to the typhoon victims in Brgy. Labogon last January 11, 2022. These packages contained 1 water bucket, 1 mosquito net, 1 200ml edible oil, canned goods, 6 liters purified drinking water, and 5kg rice.
MCCI cooperated with the Rotary Club of Cebu and other civic organizations for relief operations for victims in affected areas in South Cebu. The collaboration was able to distribute 2,000 grocery packs and 3,600 10L mineral water to Brgy. Sta. Filomena in Alegria and Brgy. Montaneza in Brgy. Malabuyoc.
MCCI partnered with our Lady of Fatima Parish Church and Cebu Silingan Lions Club for relief goods distribution to fire victims in Brgy. Pagsabungan. Some MCCI member companies opened their companies to provide free assistance to victims, such as giving out free water to residents in communities and offering free charging in company buildings.
MCCI was able to receive a donation a donation of Php 100,000 from sister chamber Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the following from its members; Php 50,000 from Cenapro Chemical Corporation, 250 pieces of 6L mineral water, 50 sacks 0f rice from Atlas Cebu Corn Mill Corporation, and 250 sachets of edible oil from AD Gothong Manufacturing Corporation.
Kasalang Bayan (Mass Wedding)
MCCI partnered with the City Government of Mandaue for the Kasalang Bayan or mass wedding for 53 couples in Mandaue City. The member companies of the Chamber donated one (1) sack of rice and wine for each wedded couple.
